ALPINE TASTE WITH FRESH HERBS

The addition of fresh herbs from the Gurktal valley in Carinthia distinguishes Gurktaler from other semisweet bitter liqueurs, which are generally produced using exclusively dried herbs.

Gurktaler is the mild Alpine herbal liqueur that is the herb spirit for all discerning people, who prefer a distinctive speciality. This is because Gurktaler is produced by adding fresh alpine herbs from the Carinthian Gurktal Alpine mountains and river valley. It is a mild and delicate herbal delight. The production of the secret herbal extract also takes place in Gurktal – to be exact, in special facilities in Gurk Cathedral.

THE CONSECRATION OF THE HERBS IN GURK CATHEDRAL

The Gurk Cathedral and the Gurktaler Alpine herbs come together every year on the Assumption of Mary day on 15 August for the consecration of the fresh herbs. Experience the traditional customs of this significant consecration in one of the most significant holy places for European sacred art. As part of the Holy Mass in Gurk Cathedral, the freshly harvested herbs are blessed for our “Gurktaler Alpenkräuter“.

Gurktaler verdankt seinen milden Geschmack der Zugabe von frischen Kräutern aus dem Gurktal.

The mild taste of Gurktaler is thanks to the use of fresh herbs, foraged from Gurktal Alpine mountains around the Gurk river valley.
